How the West was Doomed!

I realised the other day that I haven't drawn anything for my own amusement in a LONG time. So I did this:

That's Hellboy in a Wild West, Ghost Rider mash-up. As you might have guessed, I'm playing a lot of Red Dead Redemption at the moment. Pencils, inks, crayons, letters, colours by me. Here's a few close-ups:

You'll have seen this already, of course. But I'm really chuffed with it, so I wanted to showcase it again.

Wild West Ghost Rider. The best bit of the GR film was when Wild West Ghost Rider and Nic Cage Ghost Rider were racing to the conclusion while "Ghost Riders in the Sky" played. Obvious, yes, but it's the nearest the movie came to actually being stirring.

Aaannd... One more look at Hellboy.

I love the old West Ghost Rider, much more than the biker version. If the film had been all about Sam Elliot as that version of the character, I'd have been so much happier.

As it is, this page makes me very happy. Amazing stuff.

I vainly hoped that 'Ghost Rider' would make enough money (despite being a crock) to justify a straight to DVD prequel with Sam Elliot in the lead.

Page is *gorgeous*, btw.

Dan;

This.

Is.

FANTASTIC!

The colours, the inks, the letters; all brilliant. I wish i inked more like you. After seeing this, I'd love to see you on a BPRD mini-series or something.

*Fantastic* work man.

Mark, James - I could not agree with you more. Sam Elliot makes *everything* better.

Jeff, Ev, Marco - cheers, chaps!

Dec - I love your inking style (and kind of wish I inked a bit more like you!). And HELL YEAH to a BPRD gig. From your mouth to Dark Horse's ears, man!

Thanks again, everyone - I'm sending you all high fives.

Paul! I'm good, man, will shoot you an email later.

Warwick, thanks a lot, man. I had a lot of fun drawing it, and people seem to like it, so I'm pretty bloody thrilled :)

Fantastic. Something of the Guy Davis going on there, I'd reckon, too.

Great looking page and a great idea for a team up!

That might be the most amazing thing I've ever seen. Somebody at Marvel and Dark Horse really need to pay you to do a full comic of this. (Or a miniseries.)

Totally agree with Tyler, I want to see what happens next.

It really is a cracking piece of work.

I'm a sucker for sci-fi and fantasy set in the old west. I even loved the old Bruce Campbell series "County Brisco Jr".

Lubbert, Chris - thanks a lot, guys.

Tyler, it's highly unlikely, but I would LOVE to develop this further. If I have time, I might draw the next page or two anyway.

BTW, Lubbert (or can I call you Colin?) I took a look at your blog and your stuff is brilliant. Have you ever submitted anything to Tharg?

Man, I even love your word balloons. The whole this strikes the right note. You clearly had a blast doing it and it comes across.

You can call me whatever you like Dan...

I said hello to your partner in crime: Glenn Brunswick, at SDCC. I mainly rambled on about your art ;) but thankfully I did correct myself and comment on his wonderful scripts before I left...

Thanks for the feedback on my stuff- much appreciated. 2000AD, now that would be nice...

MORE Dr Who please!

Michael - thanks!

Colin - stay tuned, much more Who stuff coming soon...
